Sri Kalahasteeswara Temple
About the Temple
One of the five Pancha Bhoota Stalams representing the element of Vayu (wind). Located on the banks of the Swarnamukhi River in Srikalahasti. The temple is famous for its powerful Rahu-Ketu pooja.
History: The temple dates back to the 6th century and was built by the Pallava dynasty. According to legend, the temple is named after a spider (Sri), a snake (Kala), and an elephant (Hasti) who worshipped Shiva here and attained salvation.
Significance: This is the only temple among the Pancha Bhoota Stalams dedicated to Vayu (wind). The Rahu-Ketu Kala Sarpa Dosha pooja performed here is believed to neutralize negative planetary effects.
