About the Temple
Located atop a hillock at Chilkur, this is Hyderabad's most famous Venkateswara temple, popularly known as the 'Visa Balaji' temple. It is unique as there is no hundi (donation box), promoting the belief of donating to the needy.
History: The temple was built in the 18th century by Quli Qutb Shah's son-in-law. It gained the nickname 'Visa Balaji' because it is widely believed that praying here helps in getting visas for foreign travel.
Significance: The temple is famous for not having a donation box. The deity is believed to grant wishes related to foreign travel, jobs, and education. Thousands visit on Fridays and weekends.
